Tom Brady Out of Retirement – That Didn’t Last Long

I’m sure everyone has heard that Tom Brady had some second thoughts about his recent NFL retirement. Brady says he will be back next season as QB with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will mark his 23rd season with the NFL and makes him the oldest player, he’s currently 44. He’s had a great career (here are some stats for you Football Fans) leading the NFL with 5,316 yard passing, 43 touchdowns, 485 completions, and 719 attempts as of the 2021 season.
Sure, Tampa is happy to hear the news and is hopeful for another Super Bowl win, but we are guessing the poor guy that paid $518,628 for the ‘last’ football Tom Brady threw in the NFL before retiring isn’t celebrating. With Brady ‘unretiring’ that football is worth a lot less and will probably never be worth the amount paid, unless memorabilia collectors can put a spin on that ball. Our suggestion is to hold it for a few years then make that pass.
His arrival in Tampa to play for the Bucs led to a Super Bowl title two seasons ago. Even better, the team won the Super Bowl in their home stadium which of course led to the infamous river boat parade where he passed the Vince Lombardi Trophy passed around like a football.
Even with COVID, Tampa was able to show their support outside managed to spread the celebration over a few months. One can guess that since the 2021 season didn’t end up with a Bucs Super Bowl win, Brady didn’t want to end things with a good season by making the Super Bowl but ended with a loss.
Can he bring it this year and take the Bucs all the way? Will he retire again and change his mind again? Guess we will have to wait out the summer to see.
